What we believe

What is Christianity?

A church is just a gathering of Christians, and Christians are people who follow Jesus Christ. Everything we know about Him comes from God's word, the Bible. The Bible has a lot to say to us, but its message in a nutshell is this:

Basis Of Faith

As a church, we also have a basis of faith, with which all of our members have confirmed their agreement. This is as follows:

All leadership, preaching, teaching, and counselling in the Church shall conform to the beliefs outlined below:

The full, verbal inspiration and infallibility of the Bible as originally given, as not only containing but being in itself the Word of God, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

That there is one God, and that one God consists of three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each person being fully divine, and the sovereignty of God in Creation, Providence and Redemption.

The Lord Jesus Christ as truly God and truly man, His virgin birth, the sinlessness of His life and the infallibility of His teaching, His death on the cross whereby, as our substitute, He paid the penalty for sin, His bodily resurrection and His ascension into heaven, His present work of intercession, and His personal return in glory.

The total corruption of human nature as a result of Adam’s sin, and the need for man to be born again through the Holy Spirit’s work.

The justification of the sinner solely through faith in the death of our Lord Jesus Christ for our sins.

The perseverance of all those who are truly born again, that they will never totally or finally fall away from salvation but will persevere to the end.

Our complete dependence on the Holy Spirit in Salvation, sanctification and in Christian Service and worship.

The resurrection of the body, and the judgement of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the everlasting blessedness of the righteous and the everlasting punishment of the wicked.

The ordinances of Believers Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as instituted by our Lord Jesus, but not that Baptism conveys regenerating grace, nor that the Lord’s Supper is a sacrifice for sin or involves any change in the substance of the bread and wine.

FIEC

We are an independent church, not part of any particular denomination, but we do enjoy fellowship with other churches, including by being a member church of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).
